Paddle Fest 2017 was a Blast!
On Sunday, October 1, Elysium Tennis hosted Columbus’s 2nd annual Paddle Fest to kick off the 2017-18 Platform Tennis season and to introduce new players to the sport. Paddlefest was well attended as there were over 60 attendees with 25 new to Elysium Tennis and 29 new to Platform Tennis. Players participated in 2 and a half hours of free clinics and could practice their skills during 2 hours of open court time. The clinics were taught by PPTA certified Platform Tennis pros Brian Heil, Kevin Hornik, and Klint McEnery from Elysium Tennis and Denny English from Scioto Country Club.
At the conclusion of the clinics, an exhibition match was played with Kevin and Brian playing against Klint and Denny, where Klint and Denny prevailed in straight sets. The pros had many long points and athletic exchanges to the delight of the crowd, many who had never witnessed the game being played before.
Music was provided by DJ Dave Hand and Costco provided water and cookies for the event. The Elysium Tennis staff informed all participants of paddle opportunities at Elysium and fielded questions from players, handed out dozens of prizes in the raffle and provided hot dogs and chips for all who attended. Additional raffle items were donated by Master Athletics and Wilson.
Thanks to all who made this event
a great success and to all who attended!
